This page provides an overview of the Foundation’s current work, ongoing initiatives, and planned activities related to the preservation of the Canadian Eskimo Dog.
ONGOING PROJECTS
- Foundation Incorporation (Alberta)
The Foundation is currently completing the formal incorporation process in Alberta. The NUANS name search has been secured, and the incorporation documents have been prepared and submitted for registration.
- Organizational Structure & Board Formation
The Foundation has established its initial Board of Directors, bringing together expertise in breeding, veterinary medicine, research, and cultural knowledge related to the Canadian Eskimo Dog. This structure forms the basis for the Foundation’s future work.
PLANNED PROJECTS
- Global Population Assessment of the Canadian Eskimo Dog
The Foundation plans to conduct a comprehensive global assessment of all registered Canadian Eskimo Dogs that have an official pedigree. The goal of this initiative is to establish a more reliable understanding of the actual number of dogs belonging to this rare breed worldwide.
Currently, population estimates for the Canadian Eskimo Dog vary considerably and are often based on incomplete data or approximations from different breed registries. By reviewing studbook records, registration data, and international contacts, the Foundation aims to develop a clearer and more consistent picture of the global population.
This assessment will provide an important foundation for future decisions related to preservation breeding, genetic diversity, and long-term strategies to safeguard the breed.
COMPLETED PROJECTS
This section will present projects that have been successfully completed by the Foundation. As the Foundation has only recently been established, no projects have been finalized yet.
